Detox In Southern California

Detox In Southern California

I was terrified to tell my family of my addiction. I had been able to fool them for long enough, but I was tired of pretending. I was sick of making it seem like everything was ok. I was sick of making them think everything was ok. There was a time when I would have rather died than let my family know the level of my addiction. Then I finally hit my bottom. It was either they hear it from me or hear it from the coroner after a fatal overdose. When I was looking for the right detox to go to, I wanted to be close to home. I live in southern California, and luckily there are a lot of options for detox programs.

Why Choose Southern California Detox?

With the severity of my addiction, I needed to choose one of the best Southern California treatment centers. Finding the right medical detox facility was key to my survival in recovery. I chose Divine Detox in Simi Valley and couldn’t have been happier with my choice. They guided me through the process with care and compassion. Opiates are extremely hard to get quit, both physically and mentally. Opiate and opioid detox is an uncomfortable process for anyone. I don’t care how strong you think you are; you will definitely be humbled by the experience.

Opiate and Opioid Detox in California

Detoxing from opiates or opioids of any kind in California can be a very rewarding experience, in my case I’m glad I chose to be in Cali for heroin detox and treament. Being in a bright, sunny environment can do a lot for you and your recovery, I know it brightened my outlook. There’s nothing like a good dose of Vitamin D. Vitamin D has been proven to increase your mood and help with depression. When you’re going through recovery, there are many factors involved. Being in the right location makes a big difference. The fact that I was able to go through treatment during the day and then enjoy the beach at night helped me a lot.

Divine Detox offers a wide range of detox programs. Benzo detox, meth detox, & alcohol detox included. They offer some of the most intensive and thorough California detox programs. You have enough things to worry about when you are trying to get clean. When you’re in a place like Divine Detox, they will help you focus on the task at hand. Your drug treatment is number one, and all of the other things going on in your life can be addressed later. They do a great job of addressing all of your issues, but getting you clean is the most important one.

When I was in recovery, there were a lot of times when I wanted to leave. Going through that initial period of detox in rehab is extremely trying on your psyche. I wanted to get high more than anything else. Luckily, I was able to submit to the program and force myself to stay. I told myself from the very beginning that leaving was not an option. I just assumed that if I left rehab to go back to my old ways, I would die. Dying was not an option for me. When I was deep into my addiction, I didn’t care if I lived or died. My moment of clarity was realizing that I not only wanted to live, but I wanted to prosper.

Addiction Affects Everyone In Your Life

When you have to come out and tell your loved ones you were duping them, it hurts. I knew that it would hurt them, but I finally realized it would hurt them more if I was dead. It was also an opportunity to get them the help they needed. I didn’t understand that addiction support for family members is a very important part of the process. It’s exhausting to have a loved one dealing with addiction, and you need just as much healing as they do at the end of the day.

The good folks at Divine Detox have consistently reminded me of the importance of honesty. You can’t be helped if you aren’t an open book. If you don’t lay it all out on the table, what can anyone do for you? This whole thing is a family effort. I go through my struggle with my biological family, as well as the extended family that I met through recovery.

When you meet other people who have gone through similar circumstances, it makes you feel less alone. Addiction can make you feel the loneliest feelings in the world. A huge part of this process is togetherness. As much as you have to do it on your own, you need support along the way.

My family went through so much watching me suffer from addiction. They needed counseling just as much as I did. Some of them were hesitant at first, but it’s been a huge help for them. It’s also helped me just knowing that they are healing as well. I’ve seen the change in my entire family as they’ve begun their own healing process.

My entire family has gained a new perspective of how to help me. I’m extremely proud of all of them for putting the work in. It makes me want to work harder at staying clean. If they could do it for me, it’s the least I can do. There are a lot of unknowns when you begin the recovery process. What you are doing is changing your entire perspective. It’s a life-changing journey.

It’s scary for everyone involved. There is a lot of what if? My family struggled with that mightily. They were hopeful, but they knew that I was in pretty bad shape. The support that they received helped them to understand that I am responsible for my sobriety. They can help me along the way and say all the right things, but it isn’t up to them. It’s on me.

Detox In Southern California

I am very proud to be a part of the Southern California recovery community. Since I attended Divine Detox, I’ve learned of all sorts of wonderful Southern California detox facilities. A lot of people look at California as if it’s a drug haven. I’ve found it to be just as much of a recovery haven. I’ve met a wonderful network of people actively involved in the recovery world. When you’re in recovery, it becomes a very big part of your life. Recovery is a practice that requires constant attention. If you don’t take your recovery seriously, you risk relapsing much easier.

You’re Never Beyond Help

I can’t help but look back on all those hopeless feelings that I had during my addiction. I thought I was beyond help. A lot of other people thought that way, too. How do you make an addict realize it’s never too late? There are a lot of answers. You can find all the right words to say, but it all comes down to the addict accepting the help. There is no such thing as forcing someone to get clean. I don’t know of any situation where someone got help because someone made them.

I was spending nearly two hundred dollars a day at the height of my addiction. As my tolerance went up, so did the price I was paying for the drugs. It was crushing me. When I finally lost my job because I got caught stealing, that was it. Once I started dabbling in heroin, it became clear I was going to die if I didn’t get help. I knew that would be the point of no return. My pill addiction was leading me toward full-blown heroin addiction. I had two options. I could come clean with everyone and let them know the truth, or I could sink deeper into crime and just become a full-time thief to support my habit.

I did consider the thief angle, but my common sense somehow kicked in before I went that route. I was tired. I was out of gas. I had reached my breaking point. I have friends who are still homeless and struggling to end their addiction. I didn’t want to put myself in that position. They didn’t either, but one way or another that’s where they ended up. They are still in my life, and I always will be there to provide help should they ask. You have to learn to forgive and forget in recovery. People say and do some really horrible things that they don’t mean to. Addiction changes you as a person. Nothing else matters but the drug.

I am still fighting for myself, and all the other people out there who struggle. I don’t care how far gone you think you are. You are never beyond help. I’ve met people in recovery who are true miracle cases. Based on some of those stories, I know that sobriety is attainable for anyone who really wants it. There are a lot of success stories out there that could have easily gone the other way. Anyone can turn it around. I didn’t think I would ever be able to do it, but so far I have made it work. There is always hope. There is always light.
